You Can't Do That In A Wrestling Ring!
Dylan Hales and Mose are doing video commentary.
Scott Hensley is the ring announcer, Aaron Noyes and Darryl Hall are the
referees. The crowd is at maxed out capacity for the Center and are seated by
socially distant groups.
1. King Garuda and Takuri vs. Bobby Flaco and Rob
Killjoy
This has a high flyer written all over it, and it
indeed is so noted. Killjoy basically Hotshots himself to stop the first act
and begin the isolation part of the match. After a couple of minutes of that,
the action starts flying around all over the place. Garuda lands a spinning
plancha from the top turnbuckle that had about 6 spins on it. The ending sees
Takuri take a double team from Flaco and Killoy at 9:12 for the pinfall.
2. Dillon McQueen vs. Damyan Tangra
Tangra offers his hand, McQueen brushes him off.
The crowd is firmly behind Tangra. McQueen has a misque trying to climb up the
ropes, and in a nice change of pace, doesn't try the move again and goes for
something else. Tangra traps Mcqueen in a hell's gate but has to break it on
the pin attempt. Dillion all over Tangra after that but can't get the pin; he
is getting frustrated. Dillion crotches himself on a turnbuckle. Tangra is
teeing off on Dillion, but Dillion gets a kick to the midsection to break it
up. Tangra locks in the STF and taps out McQueen at 6:22. Tangra receives loads
of love from the crowd.
3. Orion Bishop vs. Cowboy Ron Bass Jr. (with
Nolan Edward)
These are some big boys here. I watched Ron Bass
on CWF down in Florida. Immovable object vs. irresistible force type of match.
A chop fest turns to a slugfest. Bishop almost gets Bass up, but Bass slides
out. Belly to back by Bishop!! Wow! Bass fights out of a verticle suplex, but
Bishop turns it into a DDT for a near fall. Bass is striking at the back of Bishop
and almost gets the win off of a lariat. Bass is climbing the turnbuckles, but
Bishop cuts him off. Bishop gets Bass up over on the ropes for a slam and pins
him at 5:40. That was a hoss fight there. The crowd was appreciative of the
battle.
4. Jared Evans vs. Kavron Kanyon
I don't know much about Evans, except he's a
micro cruiserweight, weighing in at 160 lbs and hailing from the NYC area.
Kanyon is local. Evans has attitude to spare, insulting Kanyon's wrestling
attire. Kanyon's not having it and sends Evans scurrying out of the ring. Evans
catches Kanyon upon re-entry, sending Kanyon into the ring post. Evans goes old
school for a near fall. Evans has the disposition and temperament of a
pissed-off purse dog. Kanyon muscles his way up and gets a near fall off of a
sidewalk slam. He misses on a springboard elbow, allowing Evans to land a
springboard splash for a near fall. Evans goes up again, but Kanyon catches him
for a press slam. Kanyon lands the springboard elbow for a near fall. the crowd
wanted the pin. Evans pulls Kanyon into the ropes, throat first, and lands his
finisher for the pin at 6:16. The crowd was NOT happy with that.
5. The Suplex Assasin Alex Kane vs. O'Shay
Edwards
Kane has personalized entrance music, and the
crowd is really into it. Edwards gets a
standing "O" from the crowd. They trade off moves and then shoulder
tackles; Edwards pounces Kane out of the ring. They fight out on the floor,
with Kane having the upper hand. Edwards kicks the middle rope into Kane's
groin. Most of the crowd has moved to rally on Kane. Kane tries for a belly to
belly, but Edwards rakes the eyes. Edwards is cutting Kane off at every turn.
Kane tries for another belly to belly, Edwards bell claps the ears. Gut wrench
powerbomb by Kane! But Edwards snaps back to send Kane down to the canvas.
Edwards is breaking out the heavy wood, but Kane refuses to stay down. Kane
lands the release verticle suplex, but Edwards rolls out of the ring, Kane
follows. Kane gets Edwards back into the ring, but Edwards kicks out. Kane
lands a suplex, but Edwards pops up, so Kane gets Edwards again with the Mark
of Kane suplex and picks up the win at 10:58. After the match, Edwards hugs
Kane and puts the necklace that Edwards wears to the ring.
Intermission.
6. Ashton Starr. vs. Cabana Man Dan
CMD is sporting some new(to me anyway)music.
Ashton is poking fun of the height disparity, and CMD sends Starr scurrying
from the ring. Back in the ring, they wrestle, but Starr is shoving at the face
of CMD, and he's not happy with that. CMD appears to have a different attitude
than the happy-go-lucky CMD that I remember. They are fighting ringside now,
and CMD sends Starrs face into the ring apron. CMD heads to the turnbuckles,
but Starr trips him up. Starr's all over
CMD, trying to wear him down. Dan's fighting back, trading chops and slaps with
Starr. Starr breaks out a sharpshooter, Dan reaches the ropes. Starr misses a
kick, and CMD lands Sliced Bread to pick up the win at 9:17.
7. The Skulk (Liam Gray and Adrian Alanis) vs.
Violence is Forever (Kevin Ku and Dominick Garrini)
A fan has a poster calling them the Suck, fun
stuff. Someone in the crowd wants to start an Adriana chant. Don't they know
that's copyrighted to Adrian Hawkins? A "You skipped leg day" is
directed at Gray. Alanis gets Ku with a slingblade backbreaker. Garrini gets
Alanis in an armbar, but Gray breaks it up. They fight out on the floor for a
minute. The Skulk has Garrini isolated. They almost pinned him off a blind tag,
and Garrini had the wrong man in a submission. Hot tag to Ku, and he's striking
away at Gray. VIF double team on Gray gets a near fall. They set up again, but
Alanis breaks it up. Skulk double team pin attempt broken up by Ku. Things have
broken down everyone hitting everyone. Garrini has Gray in a submission, but
Alanis powerbombs Ku into him to break it up. Everyone's down and striking away
at each other. VIF get the better of that exchange, they set up for a double
team, but that's broken up. The Skulk double team Ku for a near fall. Ku says
he's not done yet, so Alanis starts pounding away at him, and Gray soon joins
him. The Skulk go for their finisher, but Garrini breaks it up. VIF double team
Alanis and land their finisher and get the pin at 14:49. The crowd gives them a
standing "O."
8. AC Mack vs. Alan Angels (with Robin Renegade)
Mack says that he has nothing for Hensley to hold
up for the first time in two years. He addresses how Alan Angels was jealous of
Mack's success in Georgia. He goes into his intro; he's up to 225 lbs now. Alan
brings out a female with him. He introduces her as Robin Renegade. She out
there for Alan's emotional support and to check Mack's cheating. Mack rushes
Alan on the bell, and Alan ducks onto the floor. Alan wants a wrestling match,
not a fight; Mack is good with that. Alan is out wrestling Mack, so Mack lands
a spinning heel kick, and Alan bails out of the ring; Mack follows. Mack sends
Alan into a ring post. In the ring, Alan gets sent out of the ring again, Mack
wants to dive, but Robin gets on the ring apron, and Mack pulls up. Alan sneaks
in from behind and attacks. Front face lock on Mack, the crowd is urging him
on. Alan lands a belly to belly for a near fall. Alan is trying to wear down
Mack with an assist from Robin. Mack is trying to punch his way back into the
match, and both men are down. Mack landing moves and sends Alan out of the
ring. Mack plants Alan with a kick. Back in the ring, Mack gets a near fall.
Mack wants a Mack 10, but Alan kicks his way out
of it. Alan hits a spectacular move that I don't know the name of for a near
fall. Alan pounds away on the head of Mack. Alan is going up top, and Mack
spinaroonis into an Angels clothesline. Angels goes to going up the turnbuckles
again, and Mack grabs the ropes and shakes Angels off, and Angles hits the
canvas hard. He might be knocked out. Ref Hall is checking on Alan and trying
to hold Mack back. The support staff runs out to the ring, and they are
checking on Alan. They start to get Alan out of the ring, but he springs up and
dropkicks Mack into the turnbuckles and rolls Mack up for the win at 14:31.
Mack is upset and berates Matt Griffin, asking him if Matt was in on it. Mack
wants Alan back in the ring for a Last Man Standing match. Griffin makes the
match for April 16th, and that closes out the show.
Final Thoughts.
1. The main event of the first show was drenched
in storylines that will be moving forward. The other matches were basically
one-off's.
2. WWA4 people were out in full force tonight.
3. Not the first time seeing Dillon McQueen, but
it is the first time seeing him in action. A lot of what I saw, I've seen in
what Ashton Starr has done. I could go on a rant(RobBrod report commentary?
perhaps.) on what challenges LGBTQ+ wrestlers face so that they can be their
own wrestler and not have the crowd go, I've saw such and such do that a couple
of years ago.
4. CMD is sporting a new 'tude, and I'm liking
it.
5. Orion Bishop and Ron Bass Jr. was indeed a
hoss fight. It might seem like the pot calling the kettle black, but if Bass
Jr. can get in better shape, he can have a much better run at things.
6. Kane/Edwards was a hell of a match. My opinion
is that Kane can carry the torch that Edwards passed to him.
7. The Skulk are one of those teams that the
crowd loves to hate and have fun doing so. People are coming in with different
posters at each show to try to insult them.
8. It was good to see Papa Angels again after
more than a year.
9. I was somewhat disappointed that the food
table didn't have any Cheetos.
10. I've seen Mack and Angels dozens of times
over the past 5 (or more) years. They really went all out with a swerve, while
predictable, looked real on that hard bounce that Angels took.
ACTION Wrestling presents: Sells vs. Royal 2
1. Angelus Layne vs. Erron Wade
Layne is looking at Wade like Wade is a piece of
steak. Wade tees off on Layne, striking at her and whipping her from pillar to
post. Layne starts firing back and starts pounding away at Wade, taunting him
all the while. She plants Wade in the lower turnbuckle with a Death Valley
driver. Layne plants Wade and pins him at 3:08. She walks on Wade's back on her
way out of the ring.
2. Adam Priest vs. No Flinch Nolan Edward (with AKIRA)
Priest has his ribs taped up and has the mic. He
says that he's the one who showed up, unlike Fred Yehi. He's even shown up with
a bad back and crows about how he won the New South Hoss Tournament. This
should be an interesting match-up. Wrestling breaks out in the early going,
with Edward holding a slight edge. Some nice back and forth going on. They head
out of the ring, and wrestling went out with them. They throw some strikes and
go back in the ring. Edward lands a move and gets a near fall. Priest fires
back, tossing Edward's shoulder first into the middle turnbuckle. Priest stomping
away at Edward in the corner. Priest firing away at the kidneys of Edward. Both
men are down after dueling lariats. Edward is firing back, but Priest manages
to piledrive Edward. Priets goes up top, but Edward catches him and snakes eyes
Priest into the middle turnbuckle. Kevin Ryan and Suge D run into the building,
attacking Akira. Nolan is distracted, and Priest pins him at 11:42.
After the match, things break down all over the
place. Brett Ison comes out to go after Suge and Ryan. Angelus Layne comes out
and attacks Nolan Edward with a chair. Adam Priest gets on the mic and wants
people to respect him. ACTION CEO Matt Griffin makes a tag match.
3. The Good Hand (Suge D and Kevin Ryan) vs.
Akira and Brett Ison in a No DQ match
Brett and Akira waste no time in trying to kick
Ryan's head off. Suge tries to intervene, but he gets knocked down. Ryan gets a
fist full of a water bottle, courtesy of
Akira. in the ring, Ison plants Suge. Ryan is getting decimated on the outside.
Akira is threatening Ryan with something, Suge saves him, but Ison takes care
of Suge. Ison plants Ryan with his finisher, but Ryan somehow kicks out; he
really is brain dead. Suge and Ryan double team Ison, wrapping his arms to the
top rope with duct tape. Akira comes in to make the save, and Ryan mule kicks
him low. The crowd really hates Ryan. Suge and Ryan have a free pass on Akira;
Ison can't save him.
Suge has Akira by the nose and spreads out his
legs, and kicks a field goal. Suge holds up Akira while Ryan stomps him from the
top rope, near fall. Akira tries to fire back, but Ryan brings in a chair.
One-shot to the back of the neck, of Akira, then another. Multiple shots to the
back of Akira. Suge holds the chair to Akira's head for Ryan to kick; Akira
kicks out of the pin attempt. They put the chair into the corner turnbuckle.
Ryan dropkicks the back of Akira's head into the chair, and Suge pins Akira at
10:28. Suge is yelling at the crowd. CMD runs out with a chair to run off Suge
and Ryan.
4. Graham Bell vs. Logan Creed
Bell spears Creed twice before the bell rings.
Noyes calls for the bell. Bell dives on Logan is on the floor. Bell is taking
everything to Creed. Creed hip tosses Bell into the ring, and Creed is on the
attack. Bell manages to get Creed off of his feet. Bell spears the leg of
Creed. Bell tries to dive, but Creed punches him. Bell spears Creed again as
Creed was going through the ropes. Creed's leg got twisted in the ropes, and
Bell is working that leg. Creed is really selling it. Bell tries for a
springboard leap, but Creed slaps him down in mid-air. Creed is trying to mount
a comeback, but Bell is striking out on him; Bell lands what looks like an F5
for a near fall. Bell is kicking away at the head of Creed. Bell goes up top
and lands a falling elbow for a near fall. Creed goozles him and picks Bell up
for a chokeslam backbreaker, but Creed planted Bell on the bad leg. Creed is
sitting on the top turnbuckle, but Bell is striking away. Creed goozles Bell
and tosses Bell down for a chokeslam and gets a near fall, amazing. Bell doges
a rushing Creed. Bell hurricanranas Creed. Creed catches Bell and one Scorched
Earth later; Creed wins at 10:41.
5. Matt "Sex" Sells vs. The Acegawd
Arik Royal(c) for the Action Heavyweight Championship
The crowd is primed to see Sells beat Royal for
the title. The crowd is trying to get under the skin of Royal, but he's giving
it back to them. Royal tries to rush at Sells, but Sells has the Jushin Thunder
Lager primed, and Royal puts on the breaks. Sells trips up Royal, and he wants
to do the rat trap, but Royal squirms out. Sells tries it again, and Royal
can't stop it. 25 head pounds and Sells is blown up. He gets his wind back and
delivers 25 more, and gets a near fall. Sells gets another near fall. Royal
fires back with a dropkick of all things. Royal on the attack. Royal pounces
into Sells' ribs and gets a near fall. royal is stomping away at Sells in the
corner, and Ref Hall has to pull him away. Royal starts chopping away at Sells
chest, Sells fires back, but Royal rakes the eyes. Royal is going after Sells'
drinking hand; that's some bad hat. Royal tosses Sells across the ring by the
hair. Sell's sneaks in some moves and gets a near fall.
Royal tries a move, something happened, I couldn't see, and both men are down. They get back to their knees and start throwing strikes and forearms. Big moves by both men and they are back to the canvas. Springboard stunner by Sells, and he's setting up the JTL.
Jaden Newman appears next to the ring, causing the
distraction. It looks like he came from under the ring. Was he there the whole
night? Royal upends Sells with a HUGE pounce for the win at 12:18.
Newman is parading around the ring until a
security guard chases him out of the building. Royal has a mic, and he dubs
Hensley as Hennesey and makes him hold up the title about his head. Royal runs
down Georgia sports team. He calls out Daniel Makabe as they have a match
upcoming in Tampa come April 9.
Final Thoughts.
1. The second show of the ACTION doubleheader was
heavy into various storylines in all the matches.
2. Angelus Layne vs. Nolan Edward II? Book it!
3. Congrats to Adam Priest on his New South Hoss
victory and getting the win at ACTION. Now be quiet.
4. I've heard of Akira from reading Stephen
Platinum's and Jeff G. Bailey's reports from the shows down in Florida. He can
take a beating, and man, were those some hellacious chair shots.
5. Kevin Ryan really is brain dead, and Suge D is
pulling the puppet strings.
6. Based on my interpretation of the crowd's
reaction, Kevin Ryan is the most despised person in ACTION.
7. Royal/Makabe is happening in a couple of weeks
in Florida. Still, I wouldn't be averse to seeing a rematch here in Georgia.
8. There's already a picture of Creed's chokeslam
of Graham Bell out there. Bell got some severe height on that.
9. Hello, Newman.
10. The crowd really thought that Sells had an
excellent chance to win the title.
