On April 18, 1998. Memphis' Power Pro Wrestling owned and founded by longtime promoter, Randy Hales came into being. It was a WWE development territory like the now defunct Memphis Championship Wrestling Power Pro was televised every Saturday on WMC-TV Channel 5 in Memphis. The Power Hour was hosted by Dave Brown and the late Corey Maclin. They ran their live events in the Mid-South Coliseum and also in Arkansas and Mississippi. Their television show used the same TV studio USWA used until that promotion closed in November 1997. Former WWE developmental talent like The Mean Street Posse (Rodney, Pete Gas and Joey Abs),The Bashams (Doug and Danny Basham) and Nick Dinsmore appeared on Power Pro along WWE Hall of Famers and Memphis Wrestling Legends Jerry "The King" Lawler, Jacqueline, The Rock N'Roll Express and Mark Henry. Wrestler who apppeared on Power Pro who have passed away over the years included Mae Young, Billy Joe Travis, Moondog Spot, Nicole Bass, Steve Bradley, Brian Christopher, Umaga and Rosey (Three Minute Warning), "Dr. Death" Steve Williams, Tracy Smothers and Crash Holly. Titles defended were from the PPW World, PPW World Tag Team, Television, Young Guns and Hardcore Championships. On April 14, 2001, just four days short of their third anniversary. Power Pro Wrestling closed their doors forever. All of their Championships were retired. During the summer of 2001 also without warning, it's affiliate Memphis Championship Wrestling also shut their doors after WWE purchased both WCW and ECW.
In celebration and remembrance of Power Pro Wrestling, here is their first episode along with the special episode of Memphis Championship Wrestling where the PPW stars invaded the MCW Studio.
The newest Indy Wrestling promotion in the West Coast of Puerto Rico, the National Organization Wrestling in association with Matias Entertainment will have their first live event called "Evolucion Insuperable" (Insurmountable Evolution) live in Aguada. The date and venue will be announced soon. Talent announced are Hatillo natives The Starr Brothers (Michael and Ivan Starr) who throughout their almost twenty year history career have won every Tag Team Championship on the West Coast of the Island. More names have been announced for the Scenic City Invitational 2022 at Soddy Daisy High School, 618 Sequoyah Road, Soddy Daisy, Tennessee on Friday August 5th and Saturday August 6th.
