This was a fun show, probably Murder One and Josh Wheeler's best under the SSP banner. The wrestling quality was up. Interesting stories were told. It had the right pinch of comedy blended in.
Dudes In Kimonos are the new SSP Tag Team Champions. DIKs defeated inaugural SSP champions 7th Sons (Aaron Dallas & Duncan Avecilla).
The match will be remembered for what happened afterward. A fan got into the ring to get at The Hierarchy (Murder One, Joe Black and The Kenway). Details below.
Sal Rinauro vs. The Kenway was outstanding, best match of the night. Chip Day vs. Joe Black was as great as it could be for short match with a DQ finish.
Attendance at El Galaxy was 75. There were more kids in the audience than at any of SPP's prior events and they really added to energy level. SSP is fine for familes. No foul language or exteme violence, at least not yet. People are drinking but it's a mellow environment for kids.
Growth in the younger talent on the SSP roster is evident from one show to the next.
(1) Hunter Knott pinned Eric Walker at 6:10. Knott is a much better wrestler than when I first laid eyes no him at PCW. He is using John Cena's old finisher, the Protobomb. Knott got a busted lip. Solid match.
(2) The Kenway defeated Sal Rinauro in 15:42. Before the match, Chip Day's beef with The Kenway carried over from SHW. If their heat isn't real, it sure feels like it is. Murder One and Joe Black came to ringside. Murder granted Day a match with Black later in the evening.
Show of mutual respect. Sal had inspirational words for Kenway. a hearftfelt moment.
(3) Nawfside Heroes (Jose Manuel & Shoota Gabe) defeated The Business (Caleb Teninty & KC Rocker) in 10:59. They had a tough act to follow. Crowd did not like Rocker's haircut or anything about him. Nawfside over with a spear/frogsplash combo after The Business screwed up.
(4) Keelin Cole defeated Deon Summerz in 7:35. Cole fired up after Summerz did nasty things with his do rag. Cole won with a corkscrew neckbreaker.
(5) AWOL defeated Larry Lazard and Trever Aeon and Movie Myk (6 minutes). AWOL made good on his claim that he could beat any three men. Names were drawn from a hat to pick them. I missed most of this talking in the back. Aerial wizard Lazard hit a 450 on Aeon and AWOL stole the pin.
Pastor Donald Jaykes rushed in the ring in attempt to steal the services of Aeon from Taliaferro. Taliaferro confronted Jaykes, who cowered and ran like a scalded dog.
(6) Sean Nelson defeated Dave Stage in after interference by "The Wall" Tyler Stephens (5:18). Nelson wore a king-like robe to the ring .Due to past history, Wheeler insisted Nelson allow the ref to check him and brass knucks were discovered. Nelson tried to stay away from the monster. Stephens showed up and hit Stage with a foreign object.
Pastor Jaykes preached and had to endure a "false prophet" chant from a certain section. Jaykes said his first disciple, Lamar Diggs went to work for his ministry because pro wrestling was filled with carnies and sinners and introduced his new
(7) Tyler Stephens (with Pastor Donald Jaykes) defeated Prime Works Offwork in 7:35. Offwork strolled to the ring wearing his construction vest with a bucket of beer. Emcee Wheeler took the beer off his hands. The gimmick seems hopeless but then again, maybe not. Stephens is a talent to keep an eye on, remarkably improved across the board from where he was last summer.
(8) Chip Day defeated Joe Black (with Murder One) via DQ at 7:10. The technical excellence of this match was a delight. There has to be more. Both had the others guys finishers defended. Day connected with the tornado kick. Darryl Hall caught Murder intefering and disqualified Black.
Murder and Joe put the boots to Day. Duncan Avecilla hit the ring with a board to protect Chip. Segue to the main...
(9) Dudes In Kimonos (KayJay Impala & Frankie Filto) defeated 7th Sons (Aaron Dallas & Duncan Avecilla) to win the SSP Tag Team Championship in 10:44. Anybody who goes by Frankie is OK in my book. Big heat on Avecilla and "Duncan" chant after he kicked out of DIKs finisher. Day and Kenway are brawling at ringside. Murder and Black joined in tot make it three on one against Day. Filto pinned Dallas after the DIKs double teamed.
A good old fashioned heat angle. Murder was baiting the fans. Joe, Kenway and Murder did the Hierarchy Salute. A young adult decided he wanted to play pro wrestler and crawled into the ring like this was a joke. He found out differently. Hierarchy put the boots to him. The guy was done and gone in 7 seconds.
After the show, Darryl Hall talked sense to a group of fans with knowledge of the offender. He was evidently trying to impress the women he and his friends were hanging with.
