From Jeremy "The Impact" York:
Deep South Wrestling returned to their “home based” New Realm Brewery, attending were 384 fans and the action was HOT!
We start with Drew “Drewski” Dickenson welcoming the legend Nick Patrick to the ring for some Big News Announcements! DSW has partnered with WWE (yes THAT WWE) and will welcome NXT superstar Lexis King next month to be featured on the card! Drew also added that there is a new media and backstage interview person in DSW, McKenzie Marshall (who came out to meet the crowd).
Match 1: CT Entertainment Vs. Mark Davidson—
This one started as a lockup contest, that ended when CT asked Davidson “oh, you want to wrestle now?” And wrestle they did! Back and forth quick paced maneuvers as Davidson took the early advantage. CT had some moments of his own however as he founds ways to ground the arial attack of his foe. A few times he went for the big move to put his opponent away only to have his plans foiled by Puerto Rico’s finest. After a slight distraction by a big group of young fans at ringside, the Pride of Alabama was left counting the lights as Davidson hit the big Avalanche Splash from the top for the pin!
Takeaway: CT continues to push his way up the company with his vast improvement and his overall heelish ways. The group of fans mentioned even had anti CT signs they made, only adding to his effectiveness. Davidson is still world class and played well off of Entertainment’s antics and athleticism.
Post match DJ Smoke comes down for a handshake from CT, only to me slighted. This lead to Smoke dropping CT with a kick and more than likely showing us the next chapter for both wrestlers.
Match 2: Apollo Prince Vs Professor Pain (w/ C Dub)
The #1 Contender for the Heavyweight Title pitted against the up and coming Master of the Mat! Power battle early with Prince taking the lead. His power is underrated and his deliberate style kept the Professor off balance for a bit. The crowd rallied hard behind one of their favorites and Pain mounted his comeback. Impressive throw after suplex after throw after suplex had Apollo staggered. Small mistake by the masked hero and Prince catches him in the “Uncrowning” (pop-up power-bomb) for the victory.
Takeaway: Prince’s raw power is almost unmatched with the rest of the roster. Add in his fast rise to top challenger and champ Jacob Johnson has another reason to keep his head on a swivel. Plus, Professor Pain and CDub are by far top favorites of the raucous DSW fans.
Match 3: SpiRal Vs Chad Skywalker
The Bosnian Warchild and The Skywalker put on a show of highly athletic arsenals unlike any other in the company. SpiRal’s kicks and spins stunted the momentum of Chad at the beginning. Then Skywalker found his groove adding in some off and through the rope sprawls. Back and forth these two went for it seemed like hours, nobody taking their eyes off the competitors. In the end, Skywalker finds a way to put the Warchild out for the count!
Takeaway: Match of the Night. SpriRal’s strikes and Chad’s arial assaults are on such higher levels than most. Post match SpiRal slinks to the outside to retrieve a medievalist staff that sneak attacks Skywalker with, smashing him across the chin. An already dangerous member of the roster now has taken the danger up a few levels. DSW beware. Eric Adamz in the ring to hype and gauge the crowd who are catching their breath from the first half of the show. He also dropped some nuggets as to some future events that are definitely worth showing up to see.
Intermission
Match 4: Jay “Alpha” Miller Vs Najasism
Deep South featured a Guest Ring Announcer for this one as Shane Smith introduced both wrestlers to a nice cheer from the crowd. Naja takes charge out of the gate utilizing his quickness and creative move set to wow Miller AND the crowd. However they do not call him Alpha for nothing as Jay finds his own offense to ground Naja and get a few near falls. “The Greatest, The Baddest, The Best” was not to be outdone as he gets the pinfall on Miller!
Takeaway: First match out of the break had the crowd right back into the show. Naja’s speed is always hard to match but instead of trying to match it, Alpha stuck to his game and almost grabbed a win. “Hoochie Daddy” Naja HAS to be looking at the title after another impressive win.
Match 5: Nathanial Vanderbilt Vs Skrilla the Great
Skrilla uses Vanderbilt’s eagerness to succeed against him for some big time slams and takedowns. Then it was Vanderbilt with some smackdowns and a unique repertoire putting the former champion Skrilla on the defensive. The crowd was strictly behind StG and once his channeled the energy of the crowd, was able to set up NV for the Skrill-ride! Three referee slaps to the mat later and another victory to Skrilla!
Takeaway: This one started with Nathanial in the ring and his former better half Rose Gold confronting him face to face. These two had a fierce breakup and Skrilla seemed ready to represent Gold in battle. The crowd loves Skrilla as their mew hero. He did make sure to call out NXT’s Lexis King at the October 26th New Realm show before leaving the ringside area. Nathanial’s progression this year deserves recognition as well. He more than hung with Skrilla and even showed a few times of almost leaving with the win.
Match 6: Big Bad Diggs Vs Jacob Johnson (DSW Heavyweight Championship)—Prematch attack from #1 Contender Apollo Prince had Jacob on the ropes early to the brutal power of Diggs. Diggs used every ounce of himself to punish Johnson at every turn. Just when Jacob would find a glimmer of hope, Diggs was there to crush it like a sandcastle at the beach. Johnson gained extra strength that he paired with his heart as he evened up the power of Diggs. The swan song of the World’s Strongest Slam garnered an eruption of cheers from the hundreds in attendance!
Takeaway: The two titans were supposed to face off many times before however outside forces have caused the match up to be pushed back til now. Diggs was incredible with his dominance of an equally bigger foe. Johnson finding the strength to power up and take the win away from Diggs was great. Now he should be staring at Apollo Prince who’s prematch attack tells you exactly where he stands in regards to the championship.
Overall, this card was stacked up, down, sideways and any which was you saw it. There’s a growing potential logjam of title contenders including Apollo, Diggs, Skrilla, Naja, Skywalker, SpiRal and even CT Entertainment. Should set up at least a year of title Main Events that (just like any DSW show) is must watch.
