From Larry Goodman:
Fanning the Flames indeed.
This was a great episode of ProSouth Wrestling - where performance artists come to play.
Uprising is two weeks away and this company is cooking with gas, doing their best work of the year.
Only the Three Stages of Hell match - Pro South Champion Ace Haven vs. YouTube Champion Scott Spade, winner takes all -- is officially announced for Uprising but the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place. The stipulations for the three stages were revealed during this episode.
-- In a blistering promo, Joe Black questioned Brother Azriel's belief in himself and his worthiness as an opponent.
-- Chosen Ones (Ace, Cameron Keast and Justin McKenzie) are currently on divergent paths. Keast is consumed with Ravanna Xin. Keast returned wearing a mask to hide the damage Xin did to his eyeball with that screwdriver. Rookie sensation Justin McKenzie is in Karmageddon's crosshairs.
-- Eric Silva pinned All-Out Champion AJ Black in a tag match.
-- Demoted former ProSouth Champion Caeden Ooten may or may not be responsible for the car accident that put Christian Pierce's wife in the hospital.
-- Blood Born, the brother team of Alexander Lincoln and Joe Wood are hot on the trail of the Karmageddon's tag team championship. Meanwhile, Scott Adams has hands full trying to keep Karmgeddon from going sideways.
Wicked Nemesis and Brandon Whatley were the broadcast team. Mathias Darkthorne ring announced. Referees: Jeremy Blackstone, Joseph Void, T-Bird and Ooten. Katie Lindsey was the ringside videographer.
The Serpent's Lair with Ace Haven and Scott Spade Grandmaster Whatley called Spade the greatest YouTube Champion of all time. Spade said was all he could do not to kick Ace's teeth down his throat right now and rubbed it in about his record. Whatley pressed Spade to pick the stipulation for the first fall of The Three Stages of Hell. Spade let "the lady" go first.
Ace referenced their 15 year history. The back story: Ace took over after Spade got dropped by another trainer Spade came back to ProSouth last year with a chip on his shoulder and a lack of appreciation. Ace didn't know he was putting his stamp of approval on an asshole.
Ace named falls count anywhere submissions only as the stipulation for the first fall. He was going to make Spade squeal like a piggie.
Spade said the second fall would be an Esom Hill Street Fight.
Spade invited Ace to pick the third fall. Ace refused. Whatley got pissed and starting lecturing. Ace laid Whatley out with a cutter. Ace said Amy would pick the third fall and challenged Spade to a tag match in the main event.
Of course they left the third fall stipulation a mystery for the time being. This is ProSouth. Whatley made it 3 for 3 -- He has infuriated his guest until he's gotten himself laid out in every Serpent's Lair to date. When Spade returned to ProSouth last September, little did we know, he was about embark on the run of his career.
(1) Steven Calozzi defeated "The Diamondback" Christian Pierce in 8:32 (with Caeden Ooten as the referee). Ooten had a get well card and a balloon for Pierce's wife Kayla in regards to her hospital stay. Ooten read the card advising Kayla to be careful on the road. Ooten assured the crowd he had nothing to do with her car wreck. Pierce rejected Ooten's well wishes for Kayla and said he was taking Ooten to a special place if he found out Ooten was responsible for her injuries.
Calozzi worked over Pierce's shoulder with ruthless aggression. Pierce used a cannonball to set up Once Bitten. Calozzi was toast. Ooten stopped his count at two due to an alleged hand injury. Pierce pounded a defenseless Calozzi with rights and lefts. Ooten harpooned Pierce and dragged Calozzi's arm on top of Pierce, who rolled a shoulder at the last split second. Ooten hauled Calozzi to his feet and put the knucks on his limp hand. As Peirce passed by, Calozzi waved at him with the knucks. But Calozzi regained his wits enough to blast Pierce in the back on the head with the knucks and cover while Ooten made a fast three count.
Ooten put the get well card on Pierce's chest. Calozzi motioned he had two wins over Pierce.
The game is delightfully rigged. Ooten is continually being assigned to Pierce's matches. Calozzi was tremendous, so totally over the top in his selling of Pierce's finisher. His first attempt to use the knucks was absolutely hilarious. And his wrestling prior the ridiculous finish was his best in ProSouth so far. This match worked infinitely better due Pierce's selling of the arm.
(2) "The Panama City Prince" DRP (with Scott Adams & Ayden Andrews) defeated Vougan via DQ in 5:50. Adams denied there was any dissension within Karmegeddon. Ayden Andrews was advertised as Vougan's opponent. DRP came out and asked Andrews to let him handle this problem for him.
Adams and Andrews sat on the stage and watched DRP dominate while eating jumbo dill pickles and quenching their thirsts with Dr. Pepper. DRP could have submitted Vougan with the Prince's Punishment (butterfly suplex flowing into a front facelock) but released the hold. Vougan broke out a World's Strongest Slam and his big ups leg drop for a near fall. He forced DRP to the ropes with a camel clutch. DRP almost pinned Vougan with the Panama City Slam (bridging Norther Lights). DRP gave Vougan Nail In The Coffin. Andrews took severe exception the gimmick infringement and attacked DRP.
Vougan's wrestling has improved since his AWE matches. Strikes still lack steam.
(3) Blood Born (Alexander Lincoln & Joe Wood) defeated Youngest Ones In Charge (Trey Jordan & LGV) in 6:10. Jordan did a massive crash and burn on a top rope splash. LGV took a powerbomb from Lincoln, landing ugly on his left shoulder. Jordan clocked Lincoln with a solid forearm. Wood took Jordan out with a lariat. Blood Born then hit The Harvesting on LGV and he was pinned by Lincoln.
Blood Born toasted victory with cans of Dr. Pepper.
Blood Born on track for another tag title shot. Setting aside the debacle of a promo Jordan cut two weeks ago, YOIC is proving to be a serviceable team. LGV's bump-taking scares me.
Harley Haven fights Ravanna Xin. Started more like a slaughter. Xin tossed Harley through the entrance way. She was beating Harley's ass. Gave her a noogie, rag dolled her into the barricade. Harley crawled under the ring and emerged spewing green misted into Xin's eyes. Harley whacked Xin with a chair. Xin got Harley in the ring and snapped several fingers. Xin picked up the mic like she was going to brain Harley with hit. The lights went out.
The lights came on to find Keast in the ring with a black mask covering the eye Xin stuck the screwdriver and a blood dripping from his lips. Xin and Keast had a staredown. Xin left the ring.
Xin made Harley regret getting involved in grown demoness business. What this? Cam returns and no fire? Keast's mask looked like something he pulled out of Dameon Ceretone's closet.
(4) Bubba Cagle (with Scott Adams & Ayden Andrews & DRP) defeated Justin McKenzie in 10:01. McKenzie was tired of getting screwed over by Karmageddon and challenged any member to a match. Adams played guessing games with McKenzie who his opponent would be.
Cody Windham's music played. Cagle attacked McKenzie from behind. McKenzie quickly recovered and started to fly. But McKenzie soon found himself in the lion's den on the outside of the ring. Cagle methodically dismantled McKenzie. Cagle countered McKenzie's sliced bread 69 with a Deep Six. On the comeback, McKenzie dropped Cagle with a spinning roundhouse kick. As McKenzie went for sliced bread 69, he collided with Adams, who as usual, was on the apron where he didn't belong. Cagle capitalized with Fear Factor 85 (hammerlock DDT).
Good match. The mayor of Parrish AL has been on something of tear. Cagle's match last week was said to one of the best of his ProSouth career. This was a determined performance from McKenzie. The odds could not have been more stacked against him.
Face to Face: Brother Azriel and Joe Black. Amy laid down the law - nothing physical. Crowd chanted "let them fight".
Az talked about the admiration and respect he had for Joe, going back to early in his career. Joe had the aura. The people believed in him. But Az now had the people believing in him. Joe was not a God. He was nothing but a man that could be beaten. They were destined to have this fight.
Joe got up from his lounging position in the corner to respond, opening with the quote at the top of this report. He didn't need Az to put him over. He was the best unsigned wrestler in the world. Az needed the match with him. He didn't need to wrestle Az.
I'm level 99, bro, and your like level seven, so I could wipe you out one hit and I don't get no experience points from it.
There was nothing Az could do that would move him. Az beat death and he was living, doing things a living man should do and being healthy. But it was unhealthy to go at a bull wearing a red flag. The marks might believe him but he could see in Az's body language that Az didn't believe. Joe said he got the call when they want guy like Az to rise to the occasion. He was disappointed it wasn't Justin or Caeden or Christian Pierce. Az didn't have the killer in him and hadn't earned the match.
Az was itching to let Joe have it but held back.
Anyone who's read my reports, knows how highly I regard Joe Black, in the ring and on the mic. He is Georgia wrestling's best talker of the last decade. And he was at the top of him game in this promo. He verbally eviscerated Az. The role-player game analogy was cold. Joe challenged Az to believe in himself if he wants to the match.
(5) Ace Haven & Eric Silva (with Amy Haven) defeated Scott Spade & AJ Black in 10:36. Spade and AJ doubled up on Ace before Silva was introduced. They paired off - Ace wih AJ, Spade with Silva. What was babbling about being on TV time and "the network" kicking them off.
Silva and AJ finally squared off no even terms. Silva's Hellplex broke the bottom rope. Silva hit Collateral Damage on Spade but he wasn't legal. AJ went up top for Less Than Zero. Ace tried to stop him. AJ knocked Ace to the floor. Silva was waiting for AJ with Collateral Damage. Spade tried to break up the pin but Amy Haven had him by the leg.
This was a first rate tag team war. The action was intense. Something vital was at stake for all four men individually and they also displaying great teamwork. Whatley was a delusional maniac on the mic.
