From Larry Goodman:
As difficult as has been for Georgia indy promotions to book more than one women's match per show, attempting the Women's Invitational was a bold move by DSW. 1FW has the depth to do it but at this point that company is more of developmental program. AWE ROAR stands alone in being able to run pure women's shows.
The Invitational was clearly a success. The women's matches got over. Jada Stone and Alexandra Quinn had the best women's singles match I've seen live this year. DSW has acquired sufficient alent to up the number of women's matches they will be presenting.
The two men's matches on the show were also very good. In the big stipulation match, CT Entertainment preserved his DSW career and forced SIN to disband by defeating three of their members in a gauntlet match with the help of a friend.
The Chandelier room at Monday Night Garage was not quite as packed as DSW's last show at the venue but it was full up. This crowd was on fire. Najasism is booking heat and the crowd is responding in kind.
A fight broke out before the show got underway. Alex Kane and Skrilla came barreling out of the dressing room and battled their way into the ring. Liz was getting ready to introduce the announce team and got trapped in the ring. She looked absolutely terrified. Security tried to break it up. Kane and Skrilla brawled to back. The fight could no longer be seen but could still be heard is it continued behind the curtain. The commentary team of Nathan Hamilton and Drew Dickinson opened with annoucements about DSW's return date to Monday Night Garage on September 13. Kane vs. Skrilla no DQ, Wonderboyz defending the tag team title vs. Nawfside Heroes vs. SIN (likely the Redacted team of Hakeem Young & Jay Alpha Miller now that SIN is disbanded) and Big Strong Mims vs. Tyson Maddux in a Three Stages of Hell.
Salem Alexander was introduced as our ring announcer for the afternoon.
Promoter Nick Patrick said C-Rex's opponent could not get medically cleared so she was being added to the first match to make it a triple threat.
(1) C-Rex defeated Kimber Foxx and Nikki Heat in 5:22. C-Rex is unique. She's about as wide as she is tall. Foxx and Heat tried teaming up against her. They tried one at a time. Nothing was working. Nothing was gonna work. They finally got C-Rex off her feet with a double team. Foxx and Heat both tried to pin C-Rex. Referee Jesse Morales told them that couldn't work. C-Rex slammed Heat on top of Fox and pinned them both.
The crowd had taken a liking to C-Rex and popped when she won.
(2) OXP defeated Skrilla The Great in 10:33. Skrilla mocked OXP's martial arts background. This did not sit well with OXP. He responded with strikes and huracanrana but Skrilla stuff his slingshot move and showed great ups on a standing dropkick. More strikes from OXP. Skrilla thumbed him in the eye. Skrilla controlled the body of the match. He hit a slingblade and choked OXP with his bandana. OXP's huracanrana left both men down. Skrilla ran into a superkick and was met with a barrage of strikes capped off with a tornado kick. Skrilla was dead weight after OXP's spectacular springboard kick to the face. Possum being played as Skrilla hit a fireman's carry sitout slam for a 2.7 near fall per Nathan Hamilton.
Kane appeared in the aisle. Skrilla fell for the distraction and OXP nailed a satellite DDT for the win.
OXP got over great in his debut at the July 26 show and the good feelings carried over. Skrilla brought his A game. This was one of the best Skrilla matches I've seen in a while. Skrilla showed respect for OXP after the match. So who's the babyface in Skrilla's upcoming match with Kane?
(3) Jada Stone defeated Alexandra Quinn in 12:03. A babyface match. They shook hands and wrestled. Quinn bopped Stone on the nose and blew her kiss. Stone headscissored Quinn out of a matrix move and got a near fall with a standing moonsault. Quinn's explosive power game took hold. Stone had great velocity on a shotgun dropkick. Quinn was rocked. Stone posted Quinn on the outside. Back inside, Stone did an escalara rana. Quinn got a two count with a slidiing and another near fall with LaMagistral.
The crowd sensed something special was happening and chanted "this is wrestling". Quinn headbutted Stone. Both women went down. Stone got a super close near fall with a split-legged moonsault. Stone went for broke with a moonsault. It missed. Quinn brutalized Stone with an overhead throw. Stone kicked out and they see-sawed pin attempts until Stone got the three count.
Quinn raised Stone's hand. As they embraced, Quinn threw Stone to mat and furiously stomped the shit out of her. The DSW fans were outraged. Quinn threw Stone out of the ring. Security separated them but Quinn was not done. She pushed through the refs and bashed Stone's head on the ring steps. Stone was carried out.
Just as the crowd was catching their breath, Stone tossed Quinn back through the curtain by her hair and started wailing on her. Quinn punched out one security guard and kickedbl another in the balls before semblance of order was restored.
Crowd was rooting for the both women and the greatness of the match they were putting on. It was beautiful. Their love for Quinn turned to hate on a dime. Pull aparts tend to get tedious. This show had two great pull aparts and this one was awesome.
(4) Tiny Tenaile defeated Judy Lee Taylor and Gemma Jewels (with Jesse) to retain the AMP Pure Wrestling Championship in 8:25. Tenaile is tiny in height but the woman can wrestle. Tenaile and Taylor iced Jewels and did some nifty ground work. Taylor used a rolling body scissors. Jewels dumped Taylor out and pounded on Tenaile. Taylor got payback by throwing Jewels out and sending her into Jesse. Back inside, Jewels hit a double clothesline and used her length to cover both opponents. Tenaile broke out some wicked headbutts...and a double northern lights suplex. Jewels overpowered Tenaile. Taylor tried to steal the pin. Jewels put Taylor in a wristlock. Tenaile splashed Jewels and rolled Taylor up to retain.
A good triple threat in a situation where they had an incredible act to follow. Tenaile won the crowd over.
(5) CT Entertainment defeated SIN (represented by Father Marquis, Hakeem Young and Jay Alpha Miller) in a gauntlet match (total time 18:35) SIN must disband. Marquis tried to do mic work but the crowd completely drowned him out. CT beat Marquis' ass. Marquis came back with praying double chops. CT lit Marquis up. Marquis applied a sleeper that CT reversed into a pinning position. Being unable to get the job done legit, Marquis shatted his collection plate over CT's head and was DQed at 4:55. Marquis put the boots to CT and got a loud "you suck" chant.
Hakeem wasted not time launching on all-out attack on CT, who came back with a corner 619 and a swanton bomb for a two count. Young took command and appeared to have it in the bag after an Angle slam and a pair of Vader bombs. Hakeem pulled CT up at the count of two and went for the third Vader bomb. CT got his knees up. Hakeem landed gonads first and CT rolled him up. Hakeem speared CT after the bell.
Mims hit the ring with a world's strongest slam for Hakeem. Tyson Maddux ran in from the table he'd been sitting at for the entire show and took Mims head off with a lariat. Laid CT out as well and flashed his golden grill smile.
CT was dead meat at this point. With supreme confidence, Miller recited the pledge of allegiance as he worked CT over. But CT rolled away from Miller's third leg drop Miller went for his signature Rockbottom. CT countered and connected with a superkick. Referee Paul Santa got knocked down. CT checked on Santa and ate a jumping knee strike from Miller for his troubles. Miller grabbed the women's title belt off the desk. Out of nowhere, Najasism appeared on the apron behind Miller and clocked him with the belt. CT backfisted Miller and fell on top of him. Naja revived Santa to make the count.
The kids lined up near the curtain wanted CT's autograph after the match.
A totally satisfying conclusion to the story. CT dished out what SIN had coming to them for their utter disrespect. They threw everything under the sun at him and CT prevailed with a little help from the friends he's been lacking. CT Entertainment brought it. His babyface fire and facial expressions were phenomenal. SIN played their part to perfection.
Patrick said the main event would be conducted under extreme rules. Just because I guess.
(6) Audrey Allen pinned Persia Pierce in an Extreme Rules match to retain the DSW Women's Championship at 12:55. Pierce is a shooter type, all business, small but wiry strong. She's based in Florida and is the IWA Puerto Rico Women's Champion.
Pierce was all over Allen's arm. She went for an armbar but Allen prevented her from fully locking it in. Out came the weapons from underneath the ring. Pierce pulled a kendo stick and chair. She tried to Pillmanize Allen's arm with the chair. A baby stroller was next. Allen caught Pierce like she was small child, sat her in the stroller and propelled the stroller with her boot. Allen also used a cookie sheet to loud effect. Pierce gave Allen a middle rope suplex. They slugged it out in the middle of the ring. Allen took over from there. The crowd popped when Allen hauled a table into the ring. Allen put Pierce through the table with an avalanche front slam to retain.
Chaos ensued. Jewels got in the ring with the chair. Allen kicked the chair in Gemma's face. C-Rex entered the ring. Jewels slid out and ran for her life. C-Rex gave Allen an icy stare. A giant woman under a mask entered the ring, over 6 feet tall and unknown to the announce team or this writer. The giant chokeslammed C-Rex, referee Jesse and the champion. The mystery woman threw the belt down on Allen and departed.
Allen is a huge fan favorite. She has a Willow Nightingale kind of likeability factor going for her. The weapons made a great equailzer in light of the massive size difference. Pierce is a tough cookie. Her superplex was a sight to behold. DSW found a monster of a woman with height that drawfs Allen. She looks pretty green.
NOTES: DSW has a triple shot next weekend: Atlanta Daires on the 21st and Grant Park Summer Shade on the 22nd and 23rd... Spotted in the house and/or backstage were Jay Tyler, Keelin Cole, Nawfside Heroes, Marko Polo aka Papa Marko, C-Dub, KJ Valentine, Jakari Jaku and Raheem.
